Joomla is a very popular content management system. It owns 3-4% of the whole content management system market just after WordPress. Many people in different locations use Joomla to create a community site or a blog. As there are so many languages in the world, Joomla has to provide support for multiple languages to be in the market.
That is why you can install multiple languages on your Joomla site. English is the default language in Joomla, but you can update it while installation from Softaculous or from the admin panel after installation. Running a blog or a site in multiple languages can also get you readers, visitors or customers from different parts of the world.
In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install a new language in Joomla. It is a very straightforward process. So, Let’s get started.
Install New Language in Joomla
To install a new language, click on the Extensions -> Manage option given in the top menu bar. See the following screenshot to understand where you can find that option.
On that page, click on the Install Languages option given in the left sidebar.
On this page, you will see a list of all the languages available to install on Joomla. You just have to select the language(s) you want to install on your store and click on the Install button given on the top-left corner of the page.
It will start the installation process instantly. Once the installation is complete, It will show you the success message. To set a default language, click on the Extensions -> Language(s) option from the top menu.
On this page, you will find the list of all the languages available on your Joomla. Select the one you want to set as default and click on the Default button just as highlighted in the following screenshot.
It will set the new language as default on your site and show you the success message. So, this is how you can install a new language and set it as default in Joomla.
