Categories are important if you are a blog owner. It is because categories can engage and tempt your visitors to read more interesting content of the same type. Categories allow your visitors to find similar content on your site with ease. That is why every popular content management systems provide an interface especially to manage categories.
If you are using Joomla, you can manage categories on your site with ease. You can also create a category hierarchy to let your users read a specific type of content under a specific category. You can also edit and delete a category as per your choice. In this short tutorial, I am going to show you how to create a category in Joomla.
Create a Category in Joomla
To create a category, log in to the admin panel of your Joomla site and click on the Content -> Categories option from the main menu.
Make sure you are in the Categories section. On this page, you will see a list of categories available in your Joomla site right now. Here you can change the status of your category, unpublish it, trash it and much more. Basically, you can manage your categories from this page.
To create a new category, click on the New button given on the top-left corner of the page just like the following image.
It will take you to a page where you can create a category. You can set the title, Alias, Description and modify other options as per your requirements.
After filling up all the required information, click on the Save button given at the top-left corner of the page. It will instantly save your new category in the database and you can start attaching it with your articles.
