Joomla is an open-source content management system. You can create a custom website or a blog using Joomla. It is built in PHP programming language and it manages all the site’s data in a MySQL database. So, every time you create a Joomla website, you have to connect it with a database that will store all the site’s data.

Unlike any other content management systems, Joomla allows us to update the database settings directly from the admin panel. If you are using CMS like WordPress, you have to update the configuration file directly using FTP or SSH. But with Joomla, the process to change database settings is easy.

This feature is rarely used but comes handy when you migrate your site from one web hosting to another or when you decide to use a remote database or when you want to connect your site with a secondary database. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to update database settings in Joomla.
