A VPS is a virtual private server that allows to host web sites (corporate site, e-commerce, contents, multimedia, etc.) and/or software applications, specially web (portal, extranet, collaborative work solutions, wiki, CRM, etc.). Unlike shared hosting, VPS allows several applications to be isolated in a single virtual machine dedicated to the user.
Ideally located between a web hosting and a physical server, the VPS combines reliability and performance in a dedicated environment, without imposing the management of hardware restrictions.
.
The management of a VPS requires a minimum knowledge of server administration. These notions are necessary to manage the installed operating system (Linux or Windows) and to configure the applications.
The VPS is the logical evolution after web hosting.
It offers many advantages: root access, access to Apache and PHP.init (modification of PHP variables), etc. It also gives you the possibility to install an SSL certificate regardless of the program you use. In short: you are freed from the responsibility required by a dedicated physical server.
However, we draw your attention to the fact that, when choosing a VPS, you must choose a configuration in accordance with the requirements of your applications, and adapt it according to the development of your activity.
This functionality is not currently available. It is not possible to migrate or “copy” a VPS to another data center. You can hire a new VPS at the new location, and transfer your data manually; but your new VPS will have two different IP addresses.
FastyCloud may be forced to replicate your data as part of internal operations, such as maintenance, but this is not a guarantee against data loss. It is the customer’s responsibility to make the necessary backups.
For this purpose, you can use the following backup solutions: Snapshot for SSD VPS.
